A moment in Black history

"On the Black hand side" is an old school term. Most simply, it was the way Blacks gave dap to each other back in the late sixties and early seventies. A few folks still do it today but it's become more of a style thing than understanding its origin. The Black hand side is kinda like the opposite of "high five." Instead of only slapping the palm side of hands, greeters actually touched the top side of the hand also and slowly slid the hands away from each other. It was cool for that period of time. The term came from a movie, which was derived from a play by Charlie Russell (Bill's brother) called Five on the Black Hand Side. That movie was about a Black family in L.A. was supposed to be the comedic response to blaxploitation films viewed as derogatory at the time. Do check it out.
